My race at Mosport
Qualifying
Qualifying proved frustrating. After posting a reasonable time, Graeme beat it by 4, and later, 6 hundreths. The scene was set for a classic battle for pole - as I was over half a second faster in practice just beforehand. The battle never materialised. A mixture of frustration at meeting traffic during the quicker laps, and subsequent errors from trying too hard led to me pounding around Mosport for something like 30 laps with no improvement. In hind site I would have been better off taking some breaks, as I am sure I was not in the right frame of mind for the race start.
Traffic & Mistakes were order for the day in qualifying!
Joe gives me plenty of room
And then the warp factor takes over (this is the next frame)
The Race
Guess who is on pole?
I decide to settle down & follow Graeme for a few laps, to push later. Big mistake, I lose all sense of rhythm by trying to brake earlier than normal leading a series of brainfades. As stated before I think the mental state was wrong following the desperate attempt to get pole and subsequent errors.
In the pass of the race John makes it past ZZ Busch to take third
Soon to be second as Rickard tests out the off road capabilities again!
Get back on the road (now 4th) behind John & ZZ. John goes hill-climbing after a spin giving me 3rd
ZZ tangles with Richard Scott whilst trying to lap him, I get the ringside seat
Ending the former's race
Meanwhile the recovering Richard Scott wipes out John!
I set about catching Graeme, who gets very close lapping Richard Scott!
With the resulting nudge that sends Richard off
I now can see Graeme (lap 22)
Getting closer
Approaching the hairpin on lap 26 of 27, I try to keep close - maybe to challenge down the straight if I can keep on his gearbox
Too close - we touch
Graeme spins & we touch again
In true GPL style things get wild!
Remarkably we both end up on four wheels (the fire is my PCs interpretation of events - Graeme's showed me on fire & missing wheels)
We pick up the pieces and finish 2 secs apart
